"Showdown" is cool, happy and full of energy. I had been looking through a book I have of Ida Kohlmeyer's work and was fascinated by how she used shapes and color in her paintings. I have always been fascinated by odd shapes and colors that seem in stark contrast to each other yet flow effortlessly when grouped together. It was a challenge to find just the right ones to make the composition work without looking forced. It's a piece that you can look at over and over and see something different. 
 
As for the name...among these shapes are an abstract black dog and red cat near two circles, which I would like to think of as food and water bowls...Showdown.
