Being from New Orleans, I am intrigued by the city and all of its history. When I come across a unique "piece" of my hometown, I like to try to use it in a painting.  "Relic" got its name because it has a part of the New Orleans Superdome facade in it. After Hurricane Katrina damaged the Superdome in 2005, it was given a facelift, and I happened to be fortunate enough to get a piece of the exterior. For years I kept it knowing how cool it was, while at the same time, not knowing what exactly to do with it. Finally I figured out how I wanted to showcase it, and shortly thereafter, "Relic" was born.
