"Kingpin" is a cool and colorful piece which utilizes shapes, symbols, and forms as art. It has an urban vibe, as many of the elements represent some form of graffiti I have seen at home and throughout my travels. Not too long ago, I went to NYC to see the building on Great Jones Street where my favorite artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat lived, worked, and died.
The pink HISS cat was part of the tribute graffiti there and I knew one day I wanted to incorporate it into a painting.
